Improved concentration

The mind can often wander, paying attention and concentration can sometimes prove difficult. Especially in a society where our minds are being pulled in many directions with constant distractions. However, mindfulness is a method that can help combat losing concentration. Studies have shown that mindful meditating on a regular basis can thicken the brain’s cerebral cortex which is responsible for memory and concentration, which allows for improved focus at work.

Improved sleep

The mind can get caught up in our thoughts, especially at bedtime. Mindfulness can help calm our minds, lower stress levels and improve sleep. Not just sleep time but, also quality and the ability to fall asleep easier. Improved sleep has many benefits including making you more alert and improved memory, these are factors which are beneficial for the workplace.

Increased productivity

Google has mindfulness training in place for their employees called ‘Search Inside Yourself’. This programme has many benefits for employees, but it also has advantages for Google. Managers are able to take greater control of stressful situations and employees are able to be more productive when they are affected by less stress, which is minimised through mindfulness.
