Members of our European office recently took on an 18-mile sponsored walk across the Welsh countryside to raise money for two special charities. The team including 6 members of our Product Development team (plus one four-legged friend!) and led by Goods In Team Leader Rob, took on a circular route from our Wrexham based office along the Clywedog Trail, across fields and woodland and around the Minera quarry.

The team chose to raise for Nightingale House Hospice who do vital work locally, along with Mind to assist their work in supporting those with mental health problems, especially during these difficult times.
The day itself was sunny and dry for the most part, with a couple of light showers and it was a great team building opportunity. Although it was indeed a challenge, the team agreed there was a great sense of reward and satisfaction at the end of those 18 miles! The team raised £926 which will be split between the two charities.

This day was supported by the Ellison People Strategy which was introduced in 2021. The strategy focuses on supporting our employees in all aspects, with a big focus on wellbeing. One of the benefits to be introduced was a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day, which allows employees to take one paid day off a year to volunteer or engage in other charitable functions. Bethany Tidd, Ellison’s HR Administrator said,
“Corporate social responsibility is all about companies playing their part in society and giving back, and a big part of that is fundraising for worthy causes. At Ellison we launched this initiative for all employees to take part by doing a variety of fundraising events, in order us to give back to the community and is important for employees to have this opportunity to participate. Not only does it make a change to people’s lives it also educates us as a company by raising awareness of various issues.”
