The rainbow motif has become symbolic across the globe and resonates with us all for many reasons. Rainbows evoke feelings of hope, happiness, promise and positivity and can now be seen displayed in windows, on apparel and as decorations within people’s homes all over the world.

To support this movement and to give something back to our much-loved communities, the team at Sizzix have created a rainbow die with accompanying positive phrases. Our aim is to help our makers in their pledge to continue to spread hope and joy through their creative pursuits and pastimes. We hope that others enjoy making with these designs, as much as we have enjoyed designing them.

Launching today on the Sizzix consumer websites are two exclusive new die designs by Head of Global Creative Direction, Debi Lightwood. Donations from the sale of each die will be given to charities, helping those in need during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Debi said “During the current times of hardship for many, it has been really heart-warming to see people coming together to spread hope, happiness and kindness. Children and adults across the globe are lifting spirits using rainbows within different project makes to send out to loved and missed ones or to decorate their homes, demonstrating their gratitude for the key workers who are keeping the world turning during this crisis.
I wanted to support this movement by providing makers with new inspiration and creative ideas to continue to make these uplifting projects. I designed two brand new die sets which I created to appeal to makers of all ages and abilities. These sets are both light-hearted and contemporary with the rainbow design taking inspiration from the naïve style of the children’s rainbow paintings that we have seen over the last few months. The current 1970’s icon trend inspired me to add the little cloud detail which can be used with or without the friendly face! The phrases are reflective of the countless messages of hope and inspiration that can be seen alongside the rainbow icons often visible on the windows of the houses we pass on our daily walks. I’m really looking forward to seeing what our consumers create with them.”

Ellison’s Chief Commercial Officer, Fiona Lloyd, was equally as keen to support this endeavour; “Our new normal has certainly brought a time for reflection and consideration of others around the world. Seeing the positivity and love across the globe, and the spirit of coming together has inspired Ellison to join in with the world-wide community endeavours. Hardship is a devastating outcome to the pandemic, and we feel so passionate about trying to give back and support those who need it most. The charities we have chosen will support these families and individuals during devastating times. We will encourage our consumers to Create, Snap and Share their inspirational makes on social media with #donatetomake, using these die designs across their communities, to support those who will need these positive symbols of hope and joy now more than ever.
Being creative allows people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to express themselves. We have seen this in so many households across the globe, demonstrating gratitude and support for front line key workers. No one has been untouched by the impact of COVID-19, missing sharing moments with friends and loved ones. We hope that these products not only support charities in their efforts but also bring the spirit of making and love to every home all over the world.”
We are delighted to be donating £6/€7 from the sale of each die through sizzix.co.uk which will be split in equal shares between Action Against Hunger and the Trussell Trust, along with $10 from the sale of each die through sizzix.com which will be donated to Feeding America. Their focus are food banks and leading the fight against global malnutrition and hunger. The impact on these services since the emergence of COVID-19 has been significant, and through the purchase of this product our loyal Sizzix consumers are supporting their vital work.

Consumers will be able to find inspiration and ideas for using these new designs in a series of Facebook Live videos, on the Sizzix websites and through the Sizzix App.
