The latest interview features Emma Hunter, a Marketing Administrator who specialises in influencer marketing here at Ellison. The interview gives an insight into what her role entails and her daily work life.
When did you join the Ellison team?
I joined the Ellison team in June 2018. I’m an English graduate from the University of Liverpool and had spent some time working in the financial services industry before deciding that I wanted to pursue a more creative role. For me, a career in marketing was the perfect option.
What is your role and what does it entail?
I’m a Marketing Administrator within the Social Media team, with a focus in influencer marketing. My role involves managing our group of influencers who we utilise to promote our products on our website and on social media. I also look to identify any new influencers and keep up-to-date with industry trends.
What are the highlights of your role?
I really enjoy the process of identifying new influencers. There’s usually a wide criteria that the influencer needs to fulfil, so when you find a perfect individual to represent the brand it’s really satisfying!
Why should businesses use influencers as a marketing tool?
Studies have shown that consumers now trust the recommendations of bloggers and social media influencers more than brand advertising. Choosing the right influencer for your brand means they have already earnt the trust of the niche audience you are trying to target, meaning they are more likely to be interested in your products. With this in mind, influencer marketing is a valid and effective marketing strategy.
What factors should businesses consider when searching for influencers?
The main points you should consider is if the influencer is engaging with your target audience, as the campaign is more likely to be a success if their fan base is similar to the buyer demographics you’ve built for your brand. The influencer also needs to align with your brand values, as this will ensure the campaign content will appear trustworthy coming from them.
What platform do you find most beneficial to conduct your research?
I like the aesthetic of Instagram as the grid means that you can view many images at once. This is beneficial when you’re researching potential influencers and trying to identify their making type.
If you could spend one day working in another part of the business, which department would you choose? And, why?
I’d like to work as a Graphic Designer within the Creative Design team. I’ve always had an interest in design and would love to see my name on the packaging!
